Majahuitas Puerta Vallarta, Mexico
|
Nary a road leads to this rustic outpost, so couples journey to the small cove south of Puerto Vallarta via motorboat. After a 20-minute ride along the coast, the driver torpedoes his small craft through the waves and onto the white-sand beach. But in contrast to your thrilling arrival, life at Majahuitas (pronounced Ma-ha-wee-tas) moves at a deliciously slow pace. Free of televisions, phones, and newspapers, you'll fill your days with beach bumming and water soaking—kayaking and snorkeling abounds. (The truly ambitious hike the jungle paths with the resort's Labs, Coco and Sandy.) Eight open-air casitas feature rosewood-and-tile floors and painted sinks. The solar-powered resort kicks up the romance quotient at night with votive-lined pathways, and honeymooners get to savor one dinner surfside, surrounded by a heart of candles in the sand. Maybe that's what makes the mango mousse taste so darn sweet. Doubles from $325, including meals and boat transfers, November through April; 877-278-8018 or mexicoboutiquehotels.com. |
