Camino Real Canc?n Canc?n, Mexico
|
In 1970, this 17-story tribute to excess was built on Cancun's northernmost tip. Surrounded by water on three sides, the hotel remains the island's tallest property—and its most decadent. (Three white-sand beaches provide for sunrise-sunset strolling options, and there's even an artificial lagoon where you can snorkel.) Of course, a few modern touches have been added over the years, including a full-service gym and the Maria Bonita restaurant, which displays local artwork as colorful as its flavored margaritas. In keeping with the resort's bigger-is-better mantra, the 381 water-view rooms are all huge, each decorated in vibrant reds and yellows. For a taste of the high life, book digs on the club floor and watch from your balcony as more than 100 hotels light up the Mexican sky: It's the perfect place to tast this "Vegas by the Sea." Doubles from $160, December through April; 800-722-6466 or caminoreal.com |
