Bora Bora Travelogue
Our UA flight to LAX was late and our arrival at the Air France gate was just in time for boarding. All other flights were as smooth as silk. Air France likes a ground speed of around 600mph, which is nice. We managed to get an earlier Air Tahiti flight to Bora Bora [07:40am], so we had a pretty full day at the beach on day 1. Bungalow #29, at the Bora Bora Sofitel Marara Hotel, was nice and our home for the next 5 days. We slept through dinner and the night. [What does one dream about in Paradise?]

Tuesday, we took a boat out past the inner islands and near the outer reefs for snorkeling in the Coral Garden. Jo spent the entire time snorkeling, Vern took pictures, and the guide gathered, shucked and immediately ate a full pint of clams. Besides seeing many small and colorful fish, Jo used an underwater camera for some shots in this crystal clear water and kept a rather colorful clam shell. The afternoon was spent on the beach and snorkeling nearby.

Wednesday morning included a trip in an open boat completely around Bora Bora, with shark feeding near the outer reef and sting ray feeding just off the coast near our hotel. An unusaul cold, heavy rain fell during the entire trip and Jo became chilled to the bone. The afternoon was spent in the Bungalow, reading and watching a steady rain that lasted a total of about 4 hours. The after dinner show was provided by the "Mamas"!

Thursday was a beautiful day so we took a couple of bikes on a sight seeing and shopping trip. After some gift buying at the Honey Moon Boutique, we stopped at a Chinese Restaurant, on the beach, for a light lunch and drinks. The afternoon was more sun and snorkel.

Friday morning was nice and filled with beach time. Jo's face-to-face meeting with a Moray Eel cooled her snorkeling fever so sunning and people watching became popular. Rain made book reading the activity for the afternoon. An after dinner Polynesian Review was our final activity in Paradise Bora Bora.

Saturday, we took the bus to the boat, the boat to the plane, and the plane back to Tahiti. Hotel check-in at the Tahiti Sofitel Mauve Beach Hotel was followed by lunch, a leisure afternoon and evening. Sunday morning, we're off to L.A., Phoenix, and home...
