Colorado is a state with an exceptionally varied landscape. In the east, the state relatively flat and dry. But as you move westward, about the time you reach Denver, the mountains suddenly appear and becomes the scenery until the Utah border. There is much to do here - old west styled railroads, old mining towns, dude ranches, the Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs and much more. The state has a lot going for it. Denver, the "Mile High City," is well known for its hospitality and friendly atmosphere. It is an excellent spot to start or end a visit to the state. If you're planning a visit to Colorado, plan to spend a week or more to really get the feel of things. You'll probably realize, when you leave, that you should have planned to stay longer.

Climate
Winters in Colorado are very snowy which means that there is usually excellent skiing in the resort areas. The spring tends to be a little on the wet side but it pays off well with the flowers that follow. The summer months can be hot and dry in the lower elevations, particularly in the eastern half of the state. Summer in the mountains is very pleasant. The fall tends to be on the dry side. |
