Illinois Travel Guide
Illinois is a state with all sorts of Activities & Interests and see. Home to Abraham Lincoln and Al Capone, Illinois has been both home and highway for countless immigrants and travelers. Once considered America's far west before the 1830's, Illinois became the springboard for the great migration west. Mormons, Irish, Germans, Enlish, gold seekers, the hopeful, charlatans and thieves - all passed this way. Illinois has never lost its importance as a gateway to the heart of the American west.

Area: 56, 400 sq. miles

Geography: The state is bordered by Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri and Kentucky. Lake Michigan also borders Illinois in the northeast. The state is mostly rolling hills running the entire length of Illinois. The land is excellent for farming.

Climate

All of Illinois enjoys a rather moderate climate with cold and windy winters and a warm summer. Summers at times can get hot but is not usually for long periods. Sponge and fall are usually very mild and pleasant with rain in the spring.
