Climate
Much of the weather in the northern part of the state is influenced by the "lake effect" of Lake Michigan. Winds blow off the lake and cool the landmass during the summer and bring lots of snow in the winter. The winter is cold and snowy with winds usually coming in from the west. The southern area of the state is at higher elevation and so tends to be somewhat cooler. |
