Maine's weather varies directly in distance from the coastline. Further inland, winters are quite cold and often severe particularly in the north. In the summer the interior is very warm. Along the coastline, winters are cold but usually not severe in any way. The summer, along the coast, is very pleasant. Both spring and fall are also ideal times for a visit to any part of the state.

Geography: Maryland is bordered by Delaware and the Atlantic Ocean to the east, Virginia to the south and West Virginia in the west. For such a small state, Maryland has an extremely varied landscape. The Eastern Shore is filled with, quiet, wetlands and ocean fishing, the central area is largely a suburb of Washington, DC and the west is quiet, pristine and mountainous. The Chesapeake Bay provides abundant fishing and water sports.

The state is divided into two climate areas. The Eastern Shore area is strongly influenced by the Chesapeake Bay moderating the summer heat and moderating the winter cold. The western part of the state has a great deal of snow in the winter and has skiing. |
