At first glance, Nebraska seems to be just another sprawling tract of farmland. The state is rich in agriculture and, in fact, the terrain is mostly rolling farmland except for the state's far west where buttes, and hills and wild, beautiful valleys can be found. The railroads made Nebraska. At one time one-sixth of the state was owned by the rail barons. Rail lines were so extensive that no rancher had to have a cattle drive of more than a day to get to a rail depot. Birthplace of Gerald Ford and Malcolm X, Nebraska's history is very interesting.
