Geography: Nevada is surrounded by Utah, Arizona, California, Oregon and Idaho. The eastern portion of the state is flat or rollings hills bothe the east and south are dry. The northwest is mountainous with thw Reno area touching on the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The southern portion of Nevada is almost entirely desert.
Climate
Nevada's climate is strongly determined by its geography. Winters are cold in the north in the mountains around Reno and the desert area to the east. The south is also desert with daytime temperatures which are quite mild in winter but dropping at night. Snow is rare in Las Vegas. Spring and fall are pleasantly mild throughout the state. Summer in the north is warm to hot depending on altitude. In the south, it is hot and dry. |
