Geography: The state is bordered by Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas. The eastern area of the state has rugged rolling hills and some low level mountains. As you travel toward the west these features disappear as a a more flatlands horizon appears. The western area is fairly dry but not desert.
Climate
Weather conditions are quite diverse in the state. In the west, winters are quite cold and windy. During the warm season, summers have tended of late to be very hot. This is also tornado area, so car should be taken by the visitor to be aware of local weather bulletins. In the east, the weather is not much different, but tends to be less windy and trees tend to even out weather conditions. |
