The Oregon coast is a treasure. Untouched by torrid commercialism that can be found in other coastal areas, the 400 miles of Oregon coastline is mostly publicly owned and protected. The Columbia River Gorge, just outside Portland, is one of the outstanding features of the Pacific Northwest. Here waterfalls cascade down moss laden cliffs making a beautiful picture for visitors. Mount Hood is nearby with its majestic scenery complimenting the many small towns to be found throughout the state. Oregon is a very pretty state worth exploring.
