Vermont is the image of America. Farmhouses, covered bridges, maple syrup, stately white churches provide a fairly good view of the landscape. Settled originally by French explorers, Vermont was not one of the original 13 colonies. It joined the Union in 1791. Vermont is most famous for its fall foliage which usually peaks during the first part of October. If you are planning to visit Vermont during this season, you'd better make your reservations way in advance. The Green Mountains roll gently through the state and provide an enormous amount of outdoor activity. Lake Champlain is well known for its boating and fishing.

Climate
Vermont's weather conditions are effected by both how far north a location is and a location's altitude. Much of the state is covered with pleasant rolling hills and mountains which during the early spring and late fall can often be seen with a light dusting of snow. Winters are ideal for skiing in many parts of Vermont usually lasting into April. Spring and fall are very pleasant with the autumn bringing a wonderful display of fall color. Summers are warm and dreamy. |
