Amazingly rural and out of the main arteries of traffic, West Virginia might be overlooked as a vacation spot. That would be a big mistake as West Virginia indeed has some of the most beautiful scenery to be found in the east. West Virginia of the longest and best white water rivers and some of the most charming towns to be discovered. Harpers Ferry is a delightful spot that should not be missed but should also not be the only place visited. Seance Rocks, Blackwater Falls, the Monongahela National Forest, the Greenbriar Resort and the New River Gorge provide ample reason fore a prolonged stay. Charleston, the largest city and the state capital, is home to the annual Vandalia Festival.
